Knewton's software is called 'alta' and utilizes artificial intelligence and machine learning to function. The platform contains text-based and video instruction, interactive learning content, assignments and review materials. The machine learning technology integrated into the platform detects knowledge gaps for each individual student and gears following lessons towards filling in those gaps. Topics that are covered on the platform include biology, chemistry, economics, mathematics, and statistics. The platform is available for both mobile and desk top or laptop use.
