Kofi Annan was born on April 8, 1938, in Kumasi, Ghana. He was a Ghanaian diplomat, economist, and politician. Annan was educated at several institutions including Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Macalester College, MIT Sloan School of Management, University of Geneva, Mfantsipim School, Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, and Sloan Fellows.
Annan founded the Kofi Annan Foundation. He was awarded the 2001 Nobel Peace Prize. During his lifetime, Annan lived in Switzerland and Ghana. He passed away on August 18, 2018, in Bern. Kofi Annan is also known by the alias Kofi Atta Annan. He had a child named Kojo Annan.
