Komoju is short for "Purchasing Module".
Komoju was launched in 2015 in Tokyo. Connected merchants can accept payments from an international and domestic pool of products, including Visa, Mastercard, JCB, and Japan's domestic alternatives, such as konbini, WebMoney Japan, and nanaco. In 2018, Komoju expanded to South Korea.
Komoju is part of a group of payment platforms supporting domestic payment methods in Japan and South Korea, including GMO, Softbank Group, and Inicis.
Komoju is partnered with companies such as Steam, Blizzard Entertainment, Razer Inc., AVG Technologies, Wargaming, and HTC Vive. Komoju can be implemented in Shopify, Spree Commerce, and WooCommerce.
