Lakehead University is a public educational institute located in Thunder Bay, Canada. It was founded in 1965 and operates within the fields of education, higher education, and university industries. The university is accredited by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities of Ontario and adopts the motto "Ad Augusta per Angusta".
Lakehead University is affiliated with several organizations, such as the Canadian University Society for Intercollegiate Debate, Universities Canada, University of the Arctic, Canadian University Press, and Council of Ontario Universities. It is also associated with the Canadian Bureau for International Education and the Association of University Forestry Schools of Canada.
The university has been assigned eight patents and counts Lakehead University Student Union and Lakehead University Faculty Association as subsidiaries.
