Larry Bird (born December 7, 1956) is a former professional basketball player and coach from the United States. Born in West Baden Springs, Indiana, Bird is known for his basketball career. He attended Springs Valley High School and later Indiana University Bloomington and Indiana State University. Bird has received several accolades for his performance in basketball, including the NBA All-Star Game MVP, NBA Rookie of the Year, and Most Valuable Player in the NBA.
Larry Bird, sometimes nicknamed "Kodak," "Larry Legend," "Mr. Wonderful," "The Great White Hope," and "The Hick from French Lick,", had a successful career as a basketball player and coach. He has been named one of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA History and has also received awards for his roles in coaching and management, including NBA Coach of the Year and NBA Manager of the Year.
Bird is married to Dina Mattingly and has three children: Korrie, Connor, and Mariah. Larry Bird was born to his parents, Claude Joseph Bird and Georgia Bird.
