“Our vision is entirely around fun and creating an enduring world. We have been inspired by Pixar and Disney throughout our lives and believe we are in a position to create the next generation of dazzling entertainment through our specialized process.”
In March 17, 2022, the company announced a $10 million Series A raise. Lava Labs's valuation at the time was upwards of $100 million. The raised funds were slated for developing the company's first game, AFAR.
The company is also planning to introduce a virtual land auction that will come in the form of NFTs. The auction will see the sale of 10,000 plots in its community. While the game AFAR is being developed, buyers will possess the ability to utilize the purchased land in a mini-game beginning in the second quarter of 2022.
