Leroy Hood is a biologist born on October 10, 1938, in Missoula, Montana. He holds citizenship in the United States and studied at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech). Hood is known for being the founder of several organizations, including the Institute for Systems Biology, Applied Biosystems, MacroGenics, and Arivale.
While at Caltech, Leroy Hood's doctoral advisor was William J. Dreyer. Since then, he has been the doctoral advisor for students like Trey Ideker and Mark M. Davis.
