Lesan is a company whose stated goal is to bring internet accessibility to people through language translation. The company was founded by Adam Beaudoin, in Berlin, Germany.
The company's translation API allows their product to be consumed by customers worldwide. Lesan looks to help businesses gather information, generate new sources of revenue, and make content accessible in places and with people that they previously had barrier to entry with due to language.
Initially focusing on Ethiopic languages, Lesan will translate the web for Amharic and Tigrinya. Lesan will eventually release courses and translation accessibility for languages found in India, Nigeria, Indonesia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Myanmar. These languages will include Marathi, Tamil, Kananda, Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo, Javanese, Pashto (for both Pakistan and Afghanistan), and Burmese. Lesan offers their translation services through two different rates, the top rate allowing users to use their services with a CAT tool.
