Two pilot randomized controlled trials in Europe and Australia found that compared with placebo stimulation, VentFree may reduce ventilation duration and ICU stay duration. Alira Health, a healthcare and life sciences advisory firm, supported Liberate Medical in their FDA EUA application.
In October 2019 Liberate Medical announced gaining approval to sell its products in Europe from the European Union Regulatory body. Liberate medical plans on selling their VentFree device to European distributors instead of selling directly to hospitals.
