Lionel Penrose

Lionel Penrose (1898-1972) was a mathematician, paramedic, psychiatrist, geneticist, and chess composer born in London. Throughout his life, he held multiple occupations, which demonstrated his diverse range of skills and interests. Penrose was a citizen of the United Kingdom and passed away in London on 12 May 1972.

Penrose was educated at St John's College, Cambridge, The Downs Malvern, and Leighton Park School. He was the son of J. Doyle Penrose and the father of several children, including Roger Penrose, Jonathan Penrose, Oliver Penrose, and Shirley Hodgson. He is widely recognized as an instance of a person equipped with diverse talents and abilities.
