Lipton is a United Kingdom-based company that sells different types of teas for the masses. It was founded in 1871 in Glasgow, Scotland and now distributes its product globally. Lipton became a Unilever brand in 1972.
Lipton offers both hot and iced tea products, which can be purchased in stores, from the company's online store, and from other online marketplaces.
Lipton's hot tea products can be categorized according to types such as black tea, green tea, herbal tea, or fruit-flavored tea. They are available to be used in the form of K-pods or tea bags. The products are often marketed as being able to improve health and wellness under benefit categories such as "detox," "sleep," and "digestion."
Lipton's iced tea usually comes in black tea and green tea with some additional flavors. It comes in plastic bottles and also in powdered form that are both sold in stores and online. Some flavors include peach, lemon, mint and lime, raspberry, and mango.
Since its inception, Lipton has partnered with many other companies and organizations. Notably, in 2003, Lipton's parent company (Unilever) formed a joint venture with PepsiCo to distribute its ready-to-drink tea.
Lipton also has made partnerships for environmental and health initiatives. In October 2023, it was announced that Lipton had partnered with Mi Terro to develop edible and dissolvable tea pods to reduce waste that is created from tea products.
