Lotte Corporation, also known as Lotte, is a conglomerate and is the fifth-largest conglomerate in South Korea. In addition to its headquarters in Seoul, the company has locations and subsidiaries in more than thirty countries throughout the world. The stated mission of Lotte is to create a foundation for its business activities and to create superior products for its customers.
Lotte has four main branches of business: food and beverage, retail, chemical/engineering and construction, and tourism and service.
Lotte initially began as a food company in 1967 with Lotte Confectionary. Since then, its food offerings have expanded to include fast food, supermarkets, liquor, and dining experiences. Some of its most famous food items include Choco Pie and Pepero.
Lotte entered the retail market in the 1970s. It has different stores, some of which are from acquisitions, that sell products to consumers. The company also has an e-commerce website where customers can buy products such as shoes, cosmetics, appliances, and clothing.
Lotte's construction branch also includes chemical offerings and manufacturing. It established this branch in the 1970s as well. There are several subsidiaries under this branch, including Lotte Chemical and KP Chem Tech.
Lotte's Tourism and Service division consists of hotels, financial services, and billing services. It also provides rental services and has a resort on Jeju Island in South Korea.
