Lucanus Polagnoli is an Austrian investor and a founder and managing partner of Calm/Storm Ventures, a super early-stage venture capital fund founded in 2020. Calm/Storm puts its focus on people's talents, not specific industries, and the firm is interested in digital solutions that improve health and the planet.
Polagnoli has invested in more than fifty super-early-stage ventures and has demonstrated his ability to pick winning cases in which entrepreneurs build both outstanding products and big businesses. He believes in the power of community and lifelong learning, joining the Kauffman Fellows venture capital development program in the United States.
Since 2004, Lucanus Polagnoli has worked as a financial consultant and investment professional for start-ups, venture capital firms, corporations, and small PE funds. He has also served on the boards of Keleya Digital-Health Solutions, Blueheart, and whatchado.
Before founding Calm/Storm in 2020, he was the general partner and CFO at Speedinvest from 2014 to 2019. At Speedinvest, he invested in early-stage technology start-ups, such as SecondNature, Thinksono, Doctorly, Playbrush, and Diagnosia.
Prior to SpeedInvest, from 2010 to 2013, Polagnoli worked for Erhard F. Grossnigg Private Equity Group (now Austro Holding) helping entrepreneurs turn around their businesses. He began his career at KPMG Australia in the merger and acquisition, advisory, and audit group, working there from 2004 to 2010.
Lucanus Polagnoli earned a master of international business administration from the Vienna University of Economics and Business in 2004 and a master of international management from CEMS, the Global Alliance in Management Education in 2006. He also spent an exchange semester at Kingston Univesity in London in 2002.
Lucanus Polagnoli lives with his wife and three children in Vienna, Austria. He enjoys racing sailing boats in his home area of Lake Attersee and Salzkammergut in Austria.
