Luther Vandross (born Luther Ronzoni Vandross Jr. on April 20, 1951) was an American singer-songwriter, record producer, composer, actor, and musician. He was born in New York City and held citizenship in the United States.
Vandross was educated at William Howard Taft High School in New York City, and later attended Western Michigan University. Throughout his career, he worked within the music industry and was involved in various genres, including funk, soul music, disco, and pop music.
Over the course of his life, Vandross received numerous prestigious awards, such as the Grammy Award for Best R&B Album, American Music Awards, and Soul Train Music Awards. He passed away on July 1, 2005, in Edison, New Jersey.
