Macondo Vision provides a platform designed to facilitate the efficient performance of employees and internal systems. The company's visual computer platform is designed to improve human and system performance by continually gathering data, monitoring how tasks are executed, and providing machine learning-driven suggestions based on analytics.
The platform tracks the actions of workers individually within teams (in shipping/receiving docks, value-added service areas, etc.). For example, it can track drinks served by specific bartenders to verify that the sales totals align with the point-of-sale system. In general, the platform's purpose is to provide credit for all actions rather than resorting to frequency and average-based quantification.
Macondo Vision was established by a team of industry executives, operators, and advisors with experience in operations, productivity, supply chain management, hospitality, technology, and innovation. Macondo Vision has ongoing business relationships with many Fortune 500 companies.
The platform's analytics process consists of capturing HD video imagery, converting it to raw data and analyzing it using machine learning. These resulting insights are displayed on dynamic dashboards (PowerBI and Tableau) and form a detailed breakdown of events in the monitored areas, allowing clients to make changes to staffing, product placement, and ergonomics based on the provided data. Macondo Vision’s webhook alerting systems can be integrated back into transactional systems and send notifications concerning performance anomalies in near-real time. The full process is described in below.
The first part of the platform's setup consists of the installation of cameras that provide 156⁰ of view in areas with high labor activity, each covering approximately 100 square feet. The captured video is sent to locally installed media players via USB or power-over-ethernet (PoE) cabling for initial processing.
Macondo Vision’s platform uses proprietary processing to augment video feeds with skeletal overlays on workers and numerical annotation of positional coordinates and identification. This processing also performs object recognition on items such as boxes (in a warehouse scenario) or glasses (in a bar scenario). Server racks may be utilized in large-scale installations to provide adequate processing power. Macondo Vision's software uses pose detection to map worker movement across the fourteen skeletal joint points and performs action recognition on each frame.
The captured and augmented data is transmitted through a bonded 4G/5G router or uploaded via client infrastructure to a Microsoft Azure cloud, where it is stored for further analysis.
The data actions are processed in the cloud and mapped against Macondo Vision's Insights Engine program to determine differences between the diagnosed activity and optimal performance. The actions and specific movements recognized by AI are categorized and tagged for reporting.
Macondo Vision provides automated monitoring and reporting on key bar metrics. The platform's passive capture of activity gives owners visibility into their operations. For instance, the system can record how many drinks are served by type (pint glass, wine, shot, etc.) and connect to any point-of-sale system to report on daily deviations. The system can also track customer contact throughout a restaurant to ensure that teams are performing adequately.
Warehouse operators can use Macondo Vision's platform to introduce automatized logistical changes related to worker time management, inventory tracking, redundant labor costs, and order fulfillment.
