Manfred, King of Sicily, was born in Venosa and occupied his time as a writer and poet. He was educated at the University of Bologna. Manfred was the father of Constance of Sicily, Queen of Aragon, and the child of Bianca Lancia and Frederick II, Holy Roman Emperor. His life came to an end at the Battle of Benevento on February 26, 1266.
