Maria Feodorovna, born Dagmar of Denmark, was a Danish princess who later became the wife of Alexander III of Russia and the mother of Nicholas II of Russia, the last Tsar of the Russian Empire. She was born on November 26, 1847, in Copenhagen, and held citizenship in both Denmark and the Russian Empire.
Maria Feodorovna was the daughter of Christian IX of Denmark and Louise of Hesse-Kassel, and had a nickname, "Minnie". Besides being a prominent figure in aristocracy, she was also a skilled painter, with her works focusing on still life and portrait painting genres.
In addition to Nicholas II of Russia, Maria Feodorovna had five other children: Grand Duke Alexander Alexandrovich of Russia, Grand Duke Michael Alexandrovich of Russia, Grand Duke George Alexandrovich of Russia, Grand Duchess Xenia Alexandrovna of Russia, and Grand Duchess Olga Alexandrovna of Russia. She passed away on October 13, 1928, in Klampenborg, Denmark.
