Mark Shuttleworth

Mark Richard Shuttleworth , born on September 18, 1973 , is a South African engineer , computer scientist , businessperson , astronaut , software developer , investor , entrepreneur , and inventor . He is also known as the "Afronaut" . Shuttleworth was born in Welkom, South Africa .

Shuttleworth's education includes Western Province Prep , Rondebosch Boys' High School , Diocesan College , and University of Cape Town . Additionally, he attended Brooks School in the United States.

Shuttleworth is the founder of Thawte , a company specializing in digital certificates and internet security. He is also the CEO of Canonical , the company behind the Ubuntu operating system. As the creator of Ubuntu Touch , Shuttleworth has been a key player in the development of open-source software.
