Marlene Dietrich, born Marie Magdalene Dietrich on December 27, 1901 in Rote Insel, Germany, was a multi-talented entertainer known for her work as an actress, musician, singer, violinist, and actor. She held multiple citizenships during her lifetime, including those of the United States, German Empire, Weimar Republic, and Nazi Germany.
Dietrich was educated at the University of Music Franz Liszt Weimar and the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts. She used the pseudonym Marlene Dietrich throughout her career. She had one child, Maria Riva.
Marlene Dietrich passed away on May 6, 1992 in the 8th arrondissement of Paris.
