American dancer and choreographer
Martha Graham (born May 11, 1894, in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania) was an American ballet dancer, artist, and choreographer. She attended the Denishawn school and Santa Barbara High School. Graham was also a ballet master, dance teacher, and costume designer.
Martha Graham founded the Batsheva Dance Company and held citizenship in the United States. She received a Guggenheim Fellowship for her accomplishments in dance. Graham passed away on April 1, 1991, in New York City.
