Mary Pickford

Mary Pickford , born Gladys Louise Smith on April 8, 1892 , in Toronto , was a Canadian-American actor, film director, screenwriter, film producer, and writer . She held dual citizenship in both Canada and the United States . She was the co-founder of the United Artists Corporation , which later became known as United Artists . Pickford was also a founder of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences .

Her birth name was Gladys Louise Smith, and she was the child of Charlotte Hennessey . She worked under the pseudonym of Mary Pickford . Pickford passed away on May 29, 1979, in Santa Monica, California .
