Maryam Mirzakhani

Maryam Mirzakhani was born on May 3, 1977, and passed away on July 14, 2017. She was a mathematician by occupation and studied at various esteemed institutions, including the Sharif University of Technology, Tehran Farzanegan School, and Harvard University. At Harvard, she was under the guidance of doctoral advisor Curtis T. McMullen. Mirzakhani's life came to an end in Stanford, California.

In recognition of her outstanding contributions to mathematics, Mirzakhani was awarded the 2014 Fields Medal, a prestigious honor in the field.
