Mascoma was a biotechnology company that made advanced bioconversion products. It was headquartered in Lebanon, New Hampshire and founded in 2006 by Lee R. Lynd and Charles E. Wyman. Mascoma's products were made using proprietary bioengineered yeast and microorganisms, in order to reduce costs and improve yields for producing renewable biofuels and chemical products from biomass. Mascoma was acquired by Lallemand in November 2014.
On November 29, 2006 Mascoma announced entering into a partnership agreement with Tamarack Energy to collaborate in the development of cellulosic biomass to ethanol production. The partnership will allows Mascoma to apply their technologies and designs to the alternative energy development, permitting, operational, and financing abilities of Tamarack Energy.
