Mauritz Stiller was a Swedish film director, actor, and screenwriter, best known for his work in the silent film era. Born on July 17, 1883, in Helsinki , Stiller held citizenship in Sweden, the Russian Empire, and the Soviet Union . Stiller's career included directing, acting, and screenwriting , and he passed away on November 18, 1928, in Stockholm .
