Russian-born french mathematician and fields medallist
Maxim Kontsevich is a mathematician born on August 25, 1964, in Khimki. He holds citizenship in the Soviet Union, France, and Russia. Kontsevich completed his education at Moscow State University, MSU Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics, and University of Bonn. Don Zagier served as his doctoral advisor.
Kontsevich's notable work includes the development of the Kontsevich invariant. In 1998, he received the prestigious Fields Medal for his contributions to the field of mathematics.
