The new Mercedes-Benz G-class debuted at the beginning of 2018, as part of the winter international automobile exhibition NAIAS. Many were afraid that with the change of generation, "Gelik" would lose its legendary angular appearance, however, this did not happen. Despite the fact that the third generation has a completely new, wider body with unique panels, the designers did a great job and were able to keep all the proportions and keep the classic lines. Distinguishing the novelty from its predecessor is not difficult, it has more oval headlights with large rectangular focusing lenses and an elegant border of LED daytime running lights along the contour. The radiator grille retained its shape, but due to a more efficient engine, its throughput had to be increased. From now on, it is a metal mesh with small diamond-shaped cells and thin horizontally oriented overlays. Rectangular air intakes located on the protruding lower bumper are decorated in the same style. In general, from now on, the design of the car can be called neoclassical. It organically combines modern technology and design, loved by many, the canonical model.

DIMENSIONS

Mercedes Benz G-class is a real premium frame SUV. Compared to its predecessor, the third generation has grown noticeably in all directions. Its overall dimensions are: length 4825 mm, width 1931 mm, height 1969 mm, and a wheelbase of 2890 mm. The ground clearance of the car is truly impressive - 241 millimeters. Such a ground clearance will allow the car to easily overcome a deep rut, drive onto a high curb while parking and maintain an excellent ride on all types of road surface.

From a technical point of view, the third generation is very different from the previous generation. It is based on a completely new ladder-type spar frame. In addition, for the first time in the history of the model, a fully independent suspension was installed at the front, instead of the classic solid axle. Such an innovation should make the car more manageable and stable, albeit less passable. Behind, as before, there was a completely dependent architecture with springs, panhard rod and trailing arms.

SPECIFICATIONS

Mercedes-Benz G-class will be equipped with a huge V-shaped turbocharged gasoline unit with a volume of 3982 cubic centimeters. Thanks to a modern turbocharger and large displacement, it produces 422 horsepower from 5250 to 5500 rpm and 610 Nm of torque from 2000 to 4750 rpm. All generated torque is fed to a nine-speed automatic transmission with multiple control electronics. The thrust is distributed between the axles in a ratio of 40:60 in favor of the rear axle, an electronically controlled clutch with the possibility of blocking is responsible for this process. As a result, with such a herd under the hood, an SUV weighing 2.5 tons takes off from a standstill to a hundred in 5.9 seconds and gains a maximum of about 210 kilometers per hour. With such a monster under the hood, one should not hope for efficiency, however, its appetites are quite moderate for its size. Gelendvagen will consume about 14.9 liters of gasoline per hundred in the city, 9.8 liters during a quiet trip on a country road and 11.7 liters per hundred kilometers in a combined cycle.
