Michael Kors is a designer of apparel and accessories. The company markets and sells products such as handbags, women's and men's ready-to-wear clothing, jewelry, eyewear, watches, a line of fragrance products, shoes, and wearable technology.
Established by Michael Kors in 1981, the namesake company produces a range of products under the Michael Kors Collection, MICHAEL Michael Kors and Michael Kors Men's labels. Michael Kors stores are operated directly or through licensing partners in some cities around the the world, including New York, Milan, Paris, Munich, Dubai, Seoul, Tokyo, Los Angeles, Chicago, London, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Rio de Janeiro.
In 1981, Michael Kors launched his inaugural women's label at Bergdorf Goodman. In 1990, he launched KORS Michael Kors as a licensed range. In 1997, Kors took up the role of a women's ready-to-wear designer at Celine. By 2002, he launched a menswear line, and in 2003, left Celine to establish MICHAEL Michael Kors the following year, in addition to the original Michael Kors Collection.
In 2023, Tapestry Inc., the parent company of Coach, Kate Spade and Stuart Weitzman, acquired Capri Holdings, the parent company of Versace, Jimmy Choo and Michael Kors.
