Michael Levitt

Michael Levitt is a South African , American , Israeli , and British physicist , biologist , and chemist . He was born on May 9, 1947, in Pretoria, South Africa .

Levitt studied at King's College London and later attended Peterhouse, Cambridge , as well as the University of Cambridge [(63893992)](# educated_at). His doctoral advisor was Bob Diamond (banker) .

Levitt is known for his work on the development of multiscale models for complex chemical systems . In 2013, he received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his contributions to this field . Currently, Levitt is employed by Stanford University .
