German car designer
Born in Rothenburg an der Fulda, Hesse, Germany.
He began his career at Mercedes-Benz. In 1989, he was appointed project manager for the Mercedes-Benz V-Class, and was responsible for the design work for the first generation of the Mercedes-Benz SLK. In 1998 he moved to the Mercedes-Benz Advanced Design Studio in Tokyo as General Manager. In 1999, he was appointed head of design at Smart, where he was responsible for the initial development of the Roadster Coupe.
In 2004, he moved to Porsche as Head of Design. Since 2015, he has also headed the design department of the parent company, Volkswagen AG.
