Michael Spencer is an investor and founder of ICAP (now known as NEX Group). He founded the company in 1986 as a brokerage firm called Intercapital with three of his colleagues from Charles Fulton. The company underwent several acquisitions and mergers before finally being renamed as NEX Group after ICAP's acquisition by Tullett Prebon in 2016 for $1.6 billion. He served as its CEO until 2018 when he sold the company to Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) Group for £3.9 billion.
Spencer has invested in several companies such as Veridium, Glasswall Solutions, Netwealth, Digital Debt Capital Markets, and Youtility. He is politically involved in the United Kingdom - serving as the Conservative Party's Treasurer from 2006 to 2010. Spencer has a bachelor's degree in physics from the University of Oxford. He was married to Lorraine Spencer until 2008, and he has three children with her. Since 2016, Spencer is married to Sarah, Marchioness of Milford Haven. He is based in the United Kingdom and Kenya.
