Mikhail Aloyan was born on August 23, 1988 in the village of Bambakashat, Armenia. In 1997, his family moved to the Russian city of Novokuznetsk, where the boy began boxing under the guidance of Nikolai Salikhov. Later, the athlete moved to Novosibirsk.
In 2007, Mikhail became the champion of Russia and the champion of Europe among young people. In 2008, he reached the final of the Russian Championship among adults, after which the boxer was included in the Russian national team for the first time at the World Cup in Moscow. Aloyan was able to win these competitions. In the decisive battle, he prevailed over the famous Cuban boxer, World Championship and Olympic medalist Andri Laffita. After that, Honored Coach of Russia Eduard Kravtsov started working with Mikhail on a permanent basis.

In 2011, he became the champion of Russia for the third time and joined the Russian national team at the World Championship in Baku. Every appearance of the boxer in the ring was accompanied by booing and insulting shouts from the stands, and after Aloyan's victory over Azerbaijani boxer Elvin Mamishzade, the organizers of the championship had to provide him with additional security.Despite such psychological pressure, Mikhail became the only Russian boxer who reached the final and won the gold medal of these competitions. The Mayor of Novosibirsk Vladimir Gorodetsky and the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev congratulated him on his victory at the World Cup.
Being the current world champion, Aloyan was one of the main favorites in his weight category at the Olympic Games in London. The athlete confidently reached the semifinals, but lost to the Mongolian boxer and became the owner of the bronze medal. In 2016, Mikhail again represented Russia at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and managed to win a silver award, which was later taken away due to a doping violation. After that, the athlete switched to professional boxing.
In October 2018, Yekaterinburg hosted a fight for reaching the semifinals of the World Boxing Super Series in the weight category up to 53, 52 kg. Aloyan opposed Zolani Tete. The representative of the Republic of South Africa won by unanimous decision of the judges.In a fight for the WBA Gold belt in the first lightweight on December 10, 2019, Mikhail Aloyan defeated Panamanian boxer Ronal Batista, by unanimous decision with a score of 117-110 and twice 119:108. The fight took place at the Arena sports and entertainment complex in Kemerovo.
