Mimar Sinan (1489-1588) was an architect, civil engineer, scientist, engineer, and urban planner from the Ottoman Empire. He was born in Ağırnas and held Turkish nationality. Sinan is best known for his notable works in the areas of architecture and engineering.
Some of his most recognized works include the Süleymaniye Mosque, Ferhat Pasha Mosque, Selimiye Mosque, Stari Most, Banya Bashi Mosque, Mehmed Paša Sokolović Bridge, and Şehzade Mosque. He was also the creator of the Topkapı Palace.
Mimar Sinan passed away on July 17, 1588, in Istanbul.
