Mindmaze is developing a neural virtual reality platform that uses virtual reality, augmented reality, EEG scans and motion capture. The company’s headset, MindLeap combines virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality. Users see the world around them as well as virtual worlds. The headset has a depth sensor that captures motions such as hand gestures. The EEG scanner in the headset strap measures electrical activity in the brain and can change what is happening in the virtual world based on whether the user is calm or not.
MindMaze technology has been used for stroke victim therapy in European hospitals and the VR environment can help retrain the patient’s brain to recover motor function. In Europe the company has medical device certification.
