Mixgenius is a Montreal based Artificial Intelligence company that specializes in digital mastering and distribution of music tracks for music artists. The company uses artificial intelligence to lower post-production time and costs. Landr is a service built by Mixgenius which allow musicians to master their music tracks without the use of a human sound engineer. The company uses machine and deep learning to recognize patterns and apply editing that sound engineers would apply to master audio tracks on their cloud server. The user can drag and drops their track on a web-based application then get the mastered audio back in a few clicks.
Landr uses algorithms based on digital audio mastering research done at Centre for Digital Music (C4DM) at Queen Mary University, London. The machine and deep learning aspect of the service analyzes audio track and models a genre that the audio might belong to though sound processing. The system then eliminates minor flaws, apply noise reduction, adjust stereo width, adjust volume, and apply dynamic range compression or expansion with other digital mastering techniques for mastering the audio track. The system masters the audio and provides the mastered audio as a preview. The user can then choose the loudness and continue to select the bit-rate and encoding of the track.
Landr offers cloud based mastering and music distribution service. “Mater and release” subscription is for artists who want to master as well as release their tracks to music streaming services. Release subscription releases audio tracks to the music streaming services.
Audio mastering subscriptions are multi-tier and based on bit-rate and format of the encoding. MP3 encoding is lower cost tier and WAV encoding is the higher cost tier. Users can pay for one time high-quality WAV encoding or choose an unlimited high quality encoding tier.
The company provides music distribution service on iTunes, Spotify, Google Play Music and other major music streaming services. Landr allows musicians to keep 100 percent of their loyalties earned from music streaming and gives full rights to their tracks. Additional service includes a dashboard for music artists to grow their fan base with stats and analytics. The company allows mastering of two audio tracks into low-res MP3 track output for free users every month.
