SBIR/STTR Award attributes
New Eagle is proposing to develop, test and transition a variation of the open architecture engine controller system in partnership with Area-I for the AFRL IMPULSE Hybrid Electric UAS program. Hybrid UAVs need a robust and intelligent hybrid propulsion controller to optimize component weight and efficiency. The proposed solution is a tools and embedded controller that utilizes model-based design techniques for code generation and simulation, and open platform approach for the embedded hardware and software. The recommendation for IMPULSE is to use the UAS/SUAS propulsion, open architecture controller that originated from New Eagle’s Raptor™ Embedded Model-Based Development (eMBD) platform and SBIR funding (contract # FA8650-16-C-2606). This SBIR program addressed the problems of scalability, slow and costly software development, affordability of UAS/SUAS hardware. The contract concluded with a demonstration of a turbine engine control system at Florida Turbine Technologies.
