The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) is an organization in the United States, founded by Franklin D. Roosevelt on June 19, 1934. Its headquarters is located in the National Archives Building. NARA operates within the federal government of the United States as a parent organization. The organization is involved in open access and educational technology industries.
NARA is also known by its short name, NARA. As part of its operations, NARA owns and manages various subsidiaries, including the Office of the Federal Register and the Information Security Oversight Office. NARA also oversees several presidential libraries and museums, such as the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum, the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum, the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, and the Barack Obama Presidential Center.
Additionally, NARA manages the National Personnel Records Center and the Washington National Records Center.
