Nicholas Francis, also known as the Duke of Lorraine, was a French aristocrat born on December 6, 1609, in Nancy, France. He held French citizenship and was a member of the aristocracy, a class of people in French society.
Nicholas was the child of Francis II, Duke of Lorraine. His father, Francis II, also held the title of Duke of Lorraine, connecting Nicholas to the aristocratic lineage of the Lorraine region in France.
