Nikolaus Joseph von Jacquin (16 February 1727 – 26 October 1817) was a Dutch-Austrian scientist known for his work as a physician, chemist, professor, physicist, and explorer. Born in Leiden, Netherlands, he held dual citizenship in the Netherlands and Austria. Jacquin was educated at Leiden University.
His son, Joseph Franz von Jacquin, followed in his footsteps and also pursued a career in science. Nikolaus served as both doctoral advisor and student to Joseph Franz. Jacquin passed away in Vienna on October 26, 1817.
