Nikolay Gerasimovich Kuznetsov was born on July 24, 1904, in Vologda Governorate. He was a citizen of the Russian Empire, Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic, and the Soviet Union. Kuznetsov was educated at the N. G. Kuznetsov Naval Academy.
His occupations included being a sailor, military personnel, politician, translator, and admiral. Kuznetsov passed away on December 6, 1974, in Moscow.
Throughout his career, Kuznetsov received various awards, such as the Order of the Red Banner, Order of the Red Star, Order of Lenin, Hero of the Soviet Union, Medal "For the Defense of Moscow", and Order of Ushakov II degree. Additionally, he was awarded Jubilee Medals commemorating milestones in the history of the Soviet armed forces: "Twenty Years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941–1945", "XX Years of the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army", "40 Years of the Armed Forces of the USSR", "50 Years of the Armed Forces of the USSR", and "30 Years of the Soviet Army and Navy". Kuznetsov was also awarded the Medal "For the Victory over Japan".
