NoRedInk (stylized as noredink) is an online web-based language-learning platform. NoRedInk works to help students in grades 4-12 to become better writers. The writing platform allows students to improve through engaging, adaptive exercises, a self-review and peer-review process, and performance data delivered to teachers and administrators. The teachers and administrators can then act on that data to help the students continuing improvement.
NoRedInk was founded by Jeff Scheur, a high school English teacher at Whitney Young Magnet High School in Chicago. Jeff Scheur documented years of misconceptions in his students' writing and developed a taxonomy to address them. From this, Jeff Scheur found an engineer to help him build an educational platform, the result of which was named "NoRedInk" after his students voted on it.
NoRedInk was shared in February 2012 with some of Jeff Scheur's colleagues at an Illinois conference. In September 2012, NoRedInk won the Citi Innovation Challenge.
