Triumph
The ascent to the top of the business began in 1992 with the release of the first Nokia GSM phone, which provided the company with world fame. The next major success came in 1990 with the Nokia 9000 Communicator, which was equipped with a database, Internet connection, e-mail, and fax, and the phone Nokia 8110 even shown in the hit movie The Matrix.
However, Nokia 1100 was recognized as the best-selling model: since 2003, this model has been sold in the amount of 200 million units.
Fall from Olympus
Unfortunately, in the early 2000s, the company's management took a number of erroneous steps, due to in 2007 Nokia's position was greatly shaken. In 2012 the company was forced to give way to the new leader in the mobile phone market — Samsung.
Today, the backbone of Nokia's oldest employees is working at HMD Global Oy.
