Noox is building a protocol that can read and analyze users' on-chain records and allow users to label on-chain interaction into attributes or achievements. Via a badge format, users can prove their on-chain interactions, and DApps or protocols can utilize the data to understand their users and change their interactions with them.
Noox developed an MVP(noox.world) and conducted a closed beta test in December 2021. Users can create their own on-chain achievments. There is no need to create a whitelist. Eligibility checking is based on live data, and no coding is required. They can input smart contract information, including other parameters. The design is template-based and customizable.
Noox solely validates if a user's historic on-chain action matches the badge requirements. It does not request access to edit or manage wallets. Noox supports on-chain data on Ethereum, and future plans include support for more chains. On Ethereum, the platform supports MetaMask with plans to support other wallets.
Noox Protocol is implemented as a set of smart contracts and a validating oracle, offering composable badges and built-in on-chain data validation. The publisher of a badge can deploy certain badge standards, including metadata of the on-chain achievement and eligibility criteria—to the blockchain.
When a user tries to claim a badge, Noox’s validating oracle—which fetches and synchronizes Ethereum blockchain data—offers proof for the Noox Protocol. It analyzes the user’s historic transaction data, then validates whether the user is eligible.
During Noox's initial closed beta in May 2022, the platform focused on offering users the ability to claim badges as a proof of achievement. There are plans to introduce a publishing platform and related features. Noox Protocol also has plans to implement $NOOX economics and a governance system to distribute the ownership of the protocol to contributors.
Some of the features of the platform include the exploration, collection, and distribution of Web3 achievements based on their historic interaction with different decentralized applications on the Ethereum network.
- Explore: explore various projects and achievements on Noox
- Collect: collect achievements as non-transferable NFTs
- Share: share achievements on Twitter and other social platforms
Noox is yet to release the $NOOX token with the launch of the community-curated badging protocol. $PreNOOX tokens are temporary tokens that will be be swapped for $NOOX at an 1:1 ratio when the protocol is live. There are two $preNOOX airdrops planned for the closed beta. The first is Noox Awakens, and the second is Claim-to-Earn.
Users who hold Noox Awakens POAPs and/or Genesis Pass in their wallets at the time of a snapshot will be eligible to claim their respective $preNOOX. A total of three different POAPs were issued for each round of the Noox Awakens campaign. Each POAP is eligible for a different airdrop reward. Snapshot will be taken at the end of the closed beta.
Users who participated in the Claim-to-Earn campaign are eligible for the airdrop at the conclusion of the closed beta. The incentive amount is calculated and announced on Noox's Discord after each batch of the campaign. Users don't need to possess Noox Awakens POAPs or Genesis Pass to get Claim-to-Earn airdrop rewards. Eligible users can claim their $preNOOX rewards on the Claim page of Noox's website.
Noox allows users to mint Web3 achievements as soulbound NFTs like “badges.” Noox Badges are programmable on-chain achievement NFTs that describe a user's actions on the blockchain. It can represent different on-chain actions like “number of transactions generated,” “amount of liquidity provided,” or “order of interactions with a particular protocol.”
Owners of Noox Badges can express what they did and add contexts to their on-chain actions.
Noox badges are non-transferrable NFTs (ERC-1155 Token) that users mint by validating on-chain actions. Once minted, users cannot transfer their badges to other Ethereum addresses. Badges are minted on the Ethereum Mainnet.
When a user claims a badge, they are minting an NFT on the Ethereum blockchain. The process of minting a badge is finished when the transaction is confirmed. Noox badges are NFTs (ERC-1155 Tokens), so the badges will appear on wallets or services that support the ERC-1155 token standard. Anyone can create a Noox badge. However, users are not allowed to create badges during the beta.
Noox provides publishers with the ability to create badges termed Series, which are meant to represent a user's progression into a specific achievement system. Publishers can create a Series with multiple leveled badges for a particular action. The levels are hierarchical, and each one can be determined based on action factors such as the total amount or number of actions.
When a Series badge is claimed, users can upgrade it to a higher-level badge when they reach the next achievement milestones. In the process, a lower-level badge is burned and replaced with the higher level badge. There is a gas fee for upgrading badges. Users with the Ethereum Rare User badge who meet the requirements for the next level badge can upgrade their existing badge to the Ethereum Super Rare User badge.
The Upgrade button is located on the detail page of a badge. Users can check eligibility to see if they can upgrade. After clicking Upgrade, they need to confirm the transaction on their MetaMask for the process to conclude. When the upgrade is finished, the previous Ethereum Rare User badge will be burned and replaced with the Ethereum Super Rare User badge.
Noox badges are published to blockchain. If specific metadata needs revision, the publisher re-publishes the badge with the revised metadata. There are instances when it is required for publishers to update the badge version. One such instance is if the badge information is incorrect.
Another instance is if projects add and/or migrate to another smart contract. Protocols can make note of the version change and let users migrate to the other badge version. If a user decides to migrate to another badge version, the old version badge will be burned. Upon the release of the subsequent version, the old version will no longer be claimable. The migration process includes the gas fee.
The Migrate button is located on the detail page of a badge. Users can click Check Eligibility to see if they are eligible for a badge migration. After clicking Migrate, they will need to confirm the transaction on their MetaMask for the process to be finished.
In April 2022, Noox Raised $2M to build on-chain reputation with Soulbound NFTs. The seed round was led by Collab+Currency with participation from Electric Capital, Sfermion, SamsungNext, POAP, and Alphanonce.
Derek Edws, Partner at Collab+Currency said:
For those building in the web3 space over the last few years, it’s clear that a meaningful part of our digital identity will be informed by some combination of our on-chain assets, on-chain activities, and on-chain affiliations. Noox is building a critical piece of infrastructure to bring this vision to life – a community-curated badging protocol that will help imbue new context to each of our on-chain interactions.
