Norfolk State University is a public educational institute located in Norfolk, Virginia, United States. Founded in 1935, it is affiliated with the National Collegiate Athletic Association, the American Association of State Colleges and Universities, and the National Athletic Association. The university operates in the education, higher education, and university industries and is considered a historically black college and university.
The motto of Norfolk State University is "Achieving with Excellence".
