American mathematician
Norman Lloyd Johnson (1917-2004) was a statistician and mathematician with a significant career in academia. Born in the United States, he started his education at Ilford County High School, later attending University College London (UCL) and the University of London.
Throughout his career, Johnson mentored several doctoral students, some of whom include Gwilym Jenkins, D. J. Bartholomew, Bhaskar Kumar Ghosh, David Kikuchi, and Keith Collins. As a student himself, he was under the guidance of renowned statistician, Egon Pearson, during his time at UCL.
