Biography
The Both Two group is a vivid demonstration of how successful a non-standard musical project can become, not afraid to break patterns. The indie pop band wins the hearts of fans with non-trivial lyrics and interesting clips.
History of creation and composition
The chronicle of the history of the creation of the collective is hampered by the thesis of its leader Ekaterina Pavlova that "the group does not have a birthday." Sisters Katya and Tanya from Yekaterinburg in their childhood loved to arrange home concerts for older relatives. Adults turned into spectators and applauded the girls who improvised to the music of Oleg Gazmanov.
In the middle of the 2000s, when the group was just starting to start, Tatyana unexpectedly left the project, deciding to devote herself to the theater. In the same period, Artem Klimenko, who played bass, joined the team, and later became the band's music producer. In 2008, "Both Two" replenished the line-up: the participants invited drummer Alexandra Kucherova, and two years later - guitarist Nikolai Alekseev. On the wave of popularity, the musicians moved from Yekaterinburg to Moscow.
But after a couple of years, the project ceased to exist. Ekaterina joined forces with Vadim Korolev, who previously worked in the Pilar group: young people created the Okudzhav group of authors (Oqjav). Klimenko began performing as part of the Aloe Vera team. But in 2015, Pavlova decided to revive Both Two, new performers appeared in the team: Daniil Shaikhinurov, with whom Katya played in Oqjav, Ksenia Vasilyeva (bass guitar), Anton Shokhirev (drum).
Soon the group was left by Shaikhinurov, who was replaced by Dmitry Emelyanov. The latter also took up the arrangements of the band's songs. Two years later, both the bass player and the drummer left "Both Two" - Dmitry Pavlov and Alexander Singer were invited to take their place.
Music
Reviewers characterized the group's early style as combining the best of Zemfira and Pep-Ci. Critics wrote that such a sexy collection as "You Know What I Did" had not been released in Russia since Ilya Lagutenko's "Marine". The video for the song "Darling" made a real sensation with its frankness and original presentation of the material.
In 2015, after the revival, the members released their second album, The Fisherman's Daughter. After that, journalists bombarded Katya with questions about how much the texts and sound have changed in the updated project. Two years later, the band's discography was replenished with the mini-album "Boy".
In the winter of 2019, Katya Pavlova became a mother. According to the soloist, pregnancy helped in creating songs.
“A woman has a deadline before which she strives to complete the projects she has begun,” the soloist joked in an interview.
The team practically did not interrupt the concert activity. In addition to concerts, the musicians presented several new singles and clips to the fans.
"Both two" now
In 2021, the group continued to delight fans with new projects. So, "Both Two" recorded the song "Bye", which was included in the soundtrack of the film "Jetlag". This is not the first work of the team for the cinema: in 2018, the team's composition of the same name was included in the comedy "I'm Losing Weight". In the summer, the team presented the single "Confetti", for which a sensual and mystical video was shot.
And in the autumn, announcements of the release of the new album “It Doesn't Suit Me” appeared on Ekaterina's Instagram account. For several compositions of the disc, Pavlova prepared mini-videos and photos with stories. At the end of November, the soloist appeared in the Evening Urgant program to present the disc and talk about what she is doing now.
