Okay was a San Francisco-based technology company that focused on developing software for analyzing productivity and performance for engineers. It was founded in 2019 and was a participant in Y Combinator's winter 2020 accelerator program. Okay was acquired by Stripe in May 2023 for an undisclosed amount.
Okay had developed a software as a service (SaaS) for engineer leads so they could monitor the performance of their teams, specifically possible disruptions in the workflow that were causing bottlenecks in the daily activities of the team of engineers. Its solution was a dashboard that acted as part of an analytics pipeline for data related to the productivity of a team of engineers.
The dashboard had query templates for the engineer leads so they could quickly integrate the SaaS and view metrics in time series and heatmaps. The pre-made dashboards that were offered by Okay could track specific metrics, such as DevOps Research and Assessment (DORA), incidents, and developer experience metrics to monitor time on specific activities, such as meetings. The dashboards had a query builder that allowed users to customize them with filters and groupings, such as teams and time zones.
When Okay was acquired by Stripe in 2023, it was reported that the company was being folded into Stripe's engineering department. The official announcement made by Okay also stated that the technology from Okay's dashboards would continue to be utilized and developed by Stripe.
