Olivier Blanchard

Olivier Blanchard (born 27 December 1948) is a French economist known for his position as the Chief Economist of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). Born in Amiens, France, Blanchard is a citizen of France.

He received his education from various prestigious institutions such as Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Paris Dauphine University, ESCP Business School, ESCP Europe, Paris Nanterre University, and Lycée la Providence . His academic discipline is mainly focused on macroeconomics.

Throughout his career, Olivier Blanchard has advised numerous doctoral students, including notable names such as Justin Wolfers, David Laibson, Danny Quah, Andrew Berg, and many others . His doctoral advisor was Stanley Fischer.
