OpenMined is encrypted, decentralized artificial intelligence and blockchain platform aimed at decentralized ownership of data and intelligence. It is also geared towards training open-source machinery models. The company was founded in 2017 by Andrew Trask.
OpenMined offers data scientists the ability to incorporate federated learning and secure prediction into their existing deep learning platforms. Allowing deep learning platform training to be performed on a private cloud. This minimizes the risk of leaking intellectual property or private training data.
The OpenMined platform consists of consensus and threshold governance which allows for shared ownership and varying degrees of control over user made learning models. Consensus governance requires all model or data owners to agree to perform a given task on the platform, while threshold governance creates a minimum threshold of data or agreement between data or model owners using the platform to perform a task.
On October 19, 2017 OpenMined received an undisclosed amount of non-equity assistance funding from Creative Destruction Lab.
