Documentary and journalistic film, won the Grand Prix "Golden Dove" at the VIII IFF of Documentary and Short Films in Leipzig (GDR), a special jury prize directed by Mikhail Romm at the II VKF in Kiev.
The film was released on the screens of the USSR on the 20th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and became one of the most high-profile film events of the 60s.
"Ordinary fascism" was a continuation of the artistic principles laid down by the Soviet assembly school back in the 1920s.
The hallmark of the film is the voiceover of Mikhail Romm. It is precisely due to the counterpoint of chronicle shots, off-screen speech and music that the film has such a strong emotional impact on the viewer.
The film was screened in the UK under the title Echo of the Jackboot and in the US under the title Triumph Over Violence.
