ORLANDO JONATHAN BLANCHARD BLOOM
He is a British and Hollywood movie actor.
He was born January 13, 1977 in Canterbury, Kent, England.
Orlando decided to become an actor at the age of nine when he discovered Superman (Christopher Reeve) was not real. Here's what he says about it: "I had a little girl I loved at the time and I dreamed I was going to fly in and save her. And when I found out Superman was an actor, I immediately thought, "This is for me." So I went into acting because of the women.
Orlando Bloom moved to London in 1993 at the age of 16. For 2 years he played in London's National Youth Theatre. Gradually improving as an actor, Orlando in 1995, he graduated from the competition and entered the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and at the same time, as any novice and promising actor began acting in the occasional role in the TV series "Accident" and "London is Burning.
Orlando Bloom made his debut as a film actor in 1997, when he appeared in the British film "Wilde." That debut was followed by offers of other film roles for the twenty-year-old actor, but Bloom turned them down: "I didn't think I was good enough for it." In the theater, he played about three years. On stage, proved very good, appearing in the plays "The Seagull", "Twelfth Night," "Antigone," "Uncle Vanya" and "Trojan Women ". As he himself estimates, it was a strong school of acting.
Orlando Bloom later in 1999, took part in auditions for a role in the film adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's trilogy "The Lord of the Rings. Bloom successfully passed the audition for the role of Faramir, but after a meeting with film director Peter Jackson, Orlando got the role of Legolas, and was to star in all three parts of the picture. He got the role two days before he graduated from the School of Music and Dramatic Arts, which was a very big deal for the young actor.
"When I arrived in New Zealand, I went almost immediately to the special effects studio. There I saw a whole warehouse full of armor, thousands of rows of armor and weapons... and that's when I thought, "My God, wow!" For a whole month of filming, I couldn't believe I was part of the project. Then, about six months later, when we finally saw a few short snippets of some scenes that Peter showed us to help bolster our spirits and keep working, I finally really realized that I was in this movie and I still couldn't believe it!"
Besides Elf, Bloom also had a brief but meaningful role in Ridley Scott's Black Hawk Down, where he played a ranger whose fall from a helicopter sets off a horrific chain of events that took place at the American mission in Mogadishu, Somalia, in October 1993. After making that film, and for the last two years, Lord of the Rings, the first big movie he starred in, Orlando traveled to India to relax with friends. Currently, Orlando Bloom spends most of his time in Los Angeles and London.
